Do You Go To Atlanta?

Do you go to Atlanta once a month, once a week, or once every couple months???
Where do you go?? Doctors, Mall, Old Navy.....
Have you ever gone grocery shopping while there????
If you are going anyways why not take advantage of the great grocery/drug stores there too???
Why not plan an extra 30 min - 1 hr. your next trip to save, save, save!!!

Here is an example:  (click on pic. to make larger)
(Mom's & my trip to Publix yesterday)

Here is what we got:
(1) Dentyne gum
(4) Pillsbury cinnamon rolls
(6) Green Giant canned veggies
(2) Muir Glen organic canned tomatoes
(28) Progresso canned soups (yes, I did say 28!)
(12) weight watchers yogurts (after cpns. were $0.12 ea)
(4) Ocean Spray Cranberry juices (clearance $0.50 ea. no cpn. needed)
(2) smuckers uncrustables (not pictured)
(6- 4pks) Frusion yogurt smoothies (=24 bottles)(after cpns. were $0.25 ea. 4pk)
(4) Juicy Juice (clearance $1 - $1/2 cpn)
(2) Oreo cakesters (had free cpn. taped to these when you bought the oreos)
(2) Oreo's
(2) Ziploc steam bags
(4) SuperPretzels
(2) Coles Garlic Bread (not pictured)

Total paid: $29.48 (would have been $5 less but cashier didn't use $5 coupon I had, no complaints though)
Total saved: $147.03
80% savings

Most of these deals were found right on SouthernSavers. The Frusion and WW Yogurt were in a new publix coupon book that was in the newspaper and then combined with a cpn. from the SS and one I had from a previous week.
I spent about $11 on AJC papers yesterday - was it worth it - yes - I saved $6 just on the Frusion and that was just one coupon from each paper - plus the AJC had the B1G1 Purex cpns which has a $7 value. This does not always come true - and I also got the papers for $2 ea. ($3 double packs) in Atlanta versus the $4 in town.  Okay, enough preaching about the newspapers.
The main point here is if you are going to Atlanta is may be well worth a few minutes to get a list and your coupons together for Publix, Kroger, Walgreens, and Target to add to your savings!! Just a thought!

  1. Hi! Followed your link from "You Saved What?". Do you live in Blairsville? I have thought about making the trip to shop at Publix or Kroger, but could never convince my husband it was worth it. This could! Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing!

  2. Hi and welcome! Yes, I do live in Blairsville. I usually have some business things to do when I go to Atlanta but every once in awhile a trip like above is worth a day out :)

  3. I see at the Southern Savers site that Kroger is having a huge sale starting on Sunday! This may be the week to start making the trip. I want to go to Beauty Alliance (I am a hairdresser) in Gainesville anyway, this might be a good excuse. Have you been to the stores in Gainesville? I am thinking of doing Publix and Kroger. Any tips or suggestions? Thanks.

  4. I have been in the Publix at Oakwood but that's about it. I usually go 400 or 515.

Most stores are very coupon friendly but some cashiers can be touch and go. Once you find a store you like stick with it.

I'm not sure how great Kroger is going to end up this week. There were not too many things listed for free on SouthernSavers but I just glanced at it. That may sound funny but that's what I look for first, then the cheapies, then the stuff I need to replenish. But, it all depends on what you are looking for.

Definately stop in and check it out if you are in the area. Take a look around, get familiar with the store, check out the closeout baskets!

I will try to look back over the list and make sure I'm not missing anything and post Sunday pm.
